School Visits and talks
Ever wondered exactly what goes in to writing an illustrating a children's book?
Alexandra is happy to conduct a range of assembly visits, workshops and talks for schools, organisations and clubs. Just send an email to hello@cornishbooks.com
Assembly visit- Building stories

Using my unique prospective of both author and illustrator, this “behind the scenes” talk gives students an insight into the creation of storybooks. Talking them through from initial idea to construction to give the students an idea of how stories and picture books are created, inspiring them to embark on their own creative project.
Expect lots of things to look!
£180 per half day (3 talks per visit included tailored to key stage). Travel costs may be charged according to location.
Storytelling Visit

Preschool or EYFS book reading of “My dragon and Me”. This relaxed storytelling session gives children a chance to meet a real life author and illustrator, hear a story being read and have any questions answered.
Free 20 minute session according to location.
Workshops- Bespoke sessions

At Cornish Books we like to ensure that each school gets the most of their workshops. Each session is developed and adapted for school in question, with a specific curriculum topic in mind. To get you started though here are some sessions i have run previously:
-
Cornish Mythology storytelling session. Be prepared for group games to understand the origins of mythology followed by a group storytelling of the Mermaid of Zennor.
-
Sustainable kitchen inks- working in smaller groups, students learn the art of creating paints from kitchen leftovers. Students create their own colour palate to then create a final sustainable art piece.
Feel free to get in touch and discuss any requirements.
